Tulane IT, in collaboration with Tulane's schools and departments, has developed technology resources to best support your academic success at Tulane. Our Technology Guide and the information below will help you identify, setup, and use the tech tools available to you to aid in your success throughout your experience with Tulane Pre-College Programs.
In order to access Tulane’s technology resources, you must first have a Tulane username and Splash ID. These grant you access to the network, software, and other university services across campus. Pre-college participants will receive an email with their credentials in May. If you need any support, please contact the Tulane IT Service Desk, which is available seven days a week.
A laptop with Microsoft Windows or Mac OS is required for all of our courses, and students should plan on bringing a computer with them every day. If you do not have a personal computer and cannot borrow one, we have a limited number of laptops available through our laptop loaner program. Information about requesting a loaner laptop will be emailed to students closer to the start of the summer.
These devices are not recommended as primary computing devices. However, they are great secondary devices for video conferencing, note-taking, web browsing, email, and on-the-go communication. Chromebooks are incompatible with most Tulane software applications.
Your Splash ID and Tulane user account are the two most important sources that allow you to access all that is available to you at Tulane.
- Your Splash ID is the assigned nine-digit ID number that allows you to access grades, registration, and financial aid. Your Splash ID does not expire.
- Your Tulane User Account is your unique username (i.e. riptide@tulane.edu ) and password that allows you to access your email, Office365, Gibson, Canvas, Zoom and other university services. Your user account expires based on your account status. For your security, user account passwords expire every 180 days.
- Your password is the key to access all systems and software at Tulane. To manage or reset your password, visit the Self Service Password Portal here.
Tip: When logging into Tulane apps, you will see either a green or white log in window. A green window requires your username only and a white window requires your full email.
Students may connect their personal computers, tablets, smartphones, and other internet devices to Tulane’s authenticated wireless internet network, Eduroam. This wireless network allows students to seamlessly stay connected on all Tulane campuses. Click here to connect your devices prior to or upon your arrival on campus.
- Students should connect to Eduroam using an ethernet cable when in their residence halls to maintain maximum internet speeds and minimize connection disruptions.
- Set up Eduroam on your devices PRIOR to your arrival on campus, so you can minimize your to-do list and start connecting immediately.
Access to Tulane email accounts are protected using Duo multi-factor authentication. When a student logs in to their email account for the first time, they will be prompted to set up their Duo account. Follow the onscreen prompts when you log in to your Tulane email or visit IT's website here to get started. Download the free Duo Mobile app for your Apple or Android device to complete setup.

Canvas is Tulane’s learning management system (LMS) and online center for academic work. This is where Tulane Pre-College students access their courses, view class content, submit assignments and online evaluations, review course grades, communicate with professors, and collaborate with classmates. Students can access the LMS through Canvas here by logging in with their Tulane email and password.
Download the Canvas mobile app on your smart phone before arriving to campus. For more information about Canvas, visit https://tulane.edu/mytulane.
