This application checklist outlines what is required to complete your application to Tulane Pre-College Programs. Application requirements depend on the type of course you are applying to, if you are applying for financial aid, and whether you are a domestic student or international student.
Please read all instructions and information in the online application. All materials must be submitted via the student portal.
In addition to our online application starter, applications to credit-bearing courses require:
- An essay responding to the following prompt:
Explain your interest in attending each of the Tulane Pre-College courses that you have selected, as well as any previous experience you have in those subject fields. We recommend limiting your essay to 250 words for each course.
- A copy of your full high school transcript
- This can be an unofficial copy of your transcript and does not need to be submitted by a school counselor.
- In lieu of a transcript, we will also accept report cards that show your complete academic history in high school.
- The name and email address of a teacher or counselor who will provide a recommendation
- When you enter this information in your application, we will automatically send an email with our recommendation form to your recommender.
- You can submit your application while we await your recommendation, but we will not review your application until the recommendation has been received.
- You can send reminder emails to your recommender via the student portal.
There are additional biographical and academic history questions you will need to answer in the student portal.

Tulane Pre-College Programs work hard to support motivated students with demonstrated financial need. Please note that financial aid for international students is only available for credit-bearing courses. More information on our financial aid policy can be found in the application. To apply for financial aid, you will need to:
- Provide information about residency, household size, parent/guardian education, and household income.
- Write a statement, 150 words or less, to explain why you need a scholarship to attend Tulane Pre-College Programs.
International students are welcome to apply to Tulane Pre-College Programs. In order to be considered for admission, you will need to meet the following requirements.
- English language proficiency is required for admission to Tulane Pre-College Programs. TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test scores are required if you are not a native speaker of English.
- Successful applicants typically score 95+, 6.5+ or 115+ on TOEFL, IELTS or the Duolingo English Test respectively.
- For non-native English speakers who choose to submit SAT or ACT scores, a 600+ on the SAT reading/writing or 27+ on the ACT English waives your requirement for an English proficiency score.
- You must have a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the end date of your selected pre-college session.
- You must have an emergency contact within the United States; you cannot list an embassy as your emergency contact.
- We encourage all international students to submit applications as early as possible to allow sufficient time for visa document approvals. Please check the current visa wait times on the U.S. Department of State's website.
